Wearing Your Heart in Your Gaze is a reflection on immediacy in user interfaces. We explored how the trend toward unconscious interaction (such as in “doom scrolling”) could be taken even further. The result is an algorithm that uses movement as an attention magnet and gaze analysis to determine when to switch to the next video and which one to play. If the viewer’s gaze leaves the analyzed movement path, their attention is captured by a new video that begins with a movement at the current focal point of their gaze.
The result is an overview of experiments that individually represent parts of the algorithm but, when combined, do not function without significant latency. Additionally, there is a publication featuring thoughts, associations, and research related to the project.
